Autonomous Drone
Our foundational project is a platform for autonomous flight capabilities and video transmission built from hobby electronics components.
Goals
The primary objectives focus on achieving reliable autonomous flight while building expertise in UAV systems:
- Achieve autonomous flight of the model aircraft
- Gain practical experience with autonomous UAV systems
This project combines open-source autopilot software with hobby-grade hardware to create a capable autonomous aircraft. The 2-meter wingspan fixed-wing drone is designed for stable flight and carries all necessary avionics for autonomous navigation.

The fixed-wing drone model with its 2-meter wingspan.

Preparations for the flight with on-site adjustments as needed.
Components
The aircraft integrates a comprehensive sensor suite and control system for full autonomous capability:
- ArduPlane flight control software
- Matek flight controller
- Airspeed sensor
- Analog VTX (video transmitter)
- Barometer
- GPS module
- Compass
- Sub-GHz remote signal system
- 2m wingspan frame
Project Phases
The project was executed in the following steps:
- 1. Bench assembly and system integration
- 2. Signal testing and calibration
- 3. Semi-autonomous flight testing
- 4. Waypoint mission execution
